4/24/2010 - Police Blotter
• March 26 at 7:45 p.m. a 56-year-old woman met with Patrolman Matt Miller to report a burglary.
The victim said someone had taken a box of her husband’s tools from the residence in the 1400 block of West Stamper Street.
She said a drill, a saw and various other tools were missing. She said it would cost about $520 to replace the tools.

• March 27 at 9:40 p.m. Patrolman Mark Cruz was sent to a residence in the 800 block of West Springer Street after a 25-year-old man reported a burglary.
The victim told Cruz that someone had entered his home through the back door and had taken a 17-inch television set from his bedroom.

• March 27 at 11:32 p.m. Patrolman Art Gamez was dispatched to the 200 block of Catherine Street after a resident there reported a burglary in progress.
Gamez and Patrolman Ryan Treviño met a 26-year-old man who said he heard a noise and then noticed a man running from his property.
The resident checked his house and found that someone had taken a $3,000, 47-inch television from its stand and had moved an X-Box 360 game system from its original location.
The burglar apparently was scared off before he could take anything.

• March 28 at 2:42 p.m. a 25-year-old woman met with Patrolman Patrick Mitchell at police headquarters after somebody broke the left rear window of her 2004 Chevrolet.
The victim said the car was parked in the 600 block of South Live Oak Street and between 2 and 3 a.m. she heard a loud crash.
When she went to investigate the noise, she saw what appeared to be some juveniles in the street with flashlights.
She checked her vehicle and found the damage. She said it would cost her about $150 to have it repaired.

• March 29 at 2:15 a.m. Gamez responded to a call from a residence in the 900 block of East Hutchinson Street after a resident there discovered a broken rear window in his 1989 Chevrolet Camaro.
The 42-year-old victim said he heard a crash and went outside to find the damage. He said it would cost about $250 to have the window replaced.

3/25/2010 - Coin Box Stolen
March 3 at 10:09 p.m. Patrolman Ryan Treviño spoke to the 48-year-old manager at the Colonial Apartments at 113 E. Hefferman St. after he reported the theft of a coin box from an apartment washing machine.

According to the manager, he spotted a white Cadillac parked in the lot there and went to check on it. He said the same car had been spotted there before and a resident had noticed a man trying to drill out the lock on a washing machine in the laundry room

When the resident challenged the man, he left in a white Cadillac with a dent in one side.

When the manager saw the same vehicle and went to check, the man drove from the scene. The manager then noticed that a coin box had been taken from a washing machine in the laundry.

3/25/2010 - Telephone Scam. Be on the alert for this kind of activity!

March 5 at 9:13 a.m. an 85-year-old man told Sgt. Eddie Garcia at police headquarters that he had been the victim of a telephone scam.

The man said he had received a call from a man who claimed he was in Quebec, Canada.

The man told the victim that his grandson had been hurt in a car accident in that city and that he needed $2,500 to pay his hospital bill. The caller was able to provide the grandson’s name.

The victim said he wired the money to the address given to him by the caller. Later he learned that his grandson was all right and had never been anywhere near Quebec, Canada.
